Sci-fi movie characters with generative artificial intelligence have a long history of being cast as villains, often intent on wiping out the human race. The list is a long one starting with the rogue computer in “2001: A Space Odyssey” in 1968 all the way to the creepy doll android starring in M3GAN released this year.
Today, with AI becoming more advanced and poised to grow exponentially, our perspective is colored by these worst-case scenarios. In the past seven months since the launch of OpenAI’s groundbreaking ChatGPT AI model, AI has captured our imagination, for better or for worse. I happen to fall into the first category.
