In the last few months, data privacy concerns have been growing, touching everything from the steady stream of patchwork state regulations to the heightened conversations around pregnancy data post-Dobbs to the cybersecurity and privacy guidelines changing interfaces throughout the private sector.
Perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise then that the Federal Trade Commission finally tossed its hat in the ring by announcing that it is exploring rules “to crack down on harmful commercial surveillance and lax data security,” according to an Aug. 11 press release.
