A Colombian judge last month admitted he used ChatGPT to assist in a ruling, sparking a conversation about the use of generative AI tools in judicial decision-making.

Current and former judges say there are limitations and ethical concerns surrounding ChatGPT’s use in their work, and believe those on the bench should talk to their clerks about the new chatbot.
