Legal advocates urged Albany lawmakers on Tuesday to repeal a New York law that categorically bans people with felony convictions from serving jury duty.

Backers of the Jury of Our Peers Act, S206A/A1432A, said enactment of the bill would align with New York lawmakers’ restoration of voting rights to persons convicted of felonies, on their release from incarceration, in 2021.
