Kirkland & Ellis has secured a $19.4 million award for Texas-based Omnitracs in its four-year-old patent infringement claim against Platform Science, a rival fleet-management technology company founded by Omnitracs’ former president.

At the close of an eight-day trial in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California in San Diego, jurors on July 19 issued a verdict finding Platform Science willfully infringed on Omnitracs’ patented technology.
