North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Anita Earls said she has voluntarily dismissed her federal lawsuit against the state’s Judicial Standards Commission since the panel dropped its investigation into comments she made about lack of diversity in the judiciary and criticism of her colleagues on the bench.

Earls had sued the commission last year, alleging its probe has chilled her speech through self-censorship.
