U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District of New York on Sunday set a briefing schedule for E. Jean Carroll to respond to former President Donald Trump’s motion for a stay of enforcement of the $83 million judgment against Trump awarded by a jury in January.
Trump moved for a stay on Friday through his attorneys Alina Habba and Michael Madaio of Habba Madaio & Associates and John Sauer and William O. Scharf of the Missouri-based James Otis Law Group, who described the jury’s $65 million punitive damages award as “plainly excessive.”
