Hochul declined to sign into law a bill that had asked to lift the the century-old requirement that attorneys either live in or have an office in New York to practice in-state.

But the governor then used her veto pen to turn back three other legislative proposals that would have significantly altered how judges and attorneys conduct business in New York.
