Tech is the latest industry to face heat from plaintiffs over restrictive repair policies, with Tesla facing two lawsuits in recent weeks alleging the electric-vehicle maker designed its vehicles, and their warranties and repair policies, to prevent owners from using independent repair shops outside of Tesla’s control.
Both suits were filed in the Northern District of California in San Francisco, and both name as plaintiffs anyone who has paid Tesla for repairs or parts since March 2019.
