New California Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas named Emelyn Rodriguez, a political law attorney with roots in journalism and First Amendment issues, his general counsel.
A spokesman for Rivas confirmed Rodriguez’s hire a week after the Hollister Democrat was sworn in as Assembly leader. Rodriguez did not return several messages inquiring about her new role.
