Laid-Off In-House Lawyers Still Finding Jobs, But Could Face Stiffer Competition

In-house attorneys have been largely spared in the barrage of layoffs pummeling the tech industry. And while there are still jobs aplenty for those seeking re-employment, legal recruiters warn that tide could be turning.

“We haven’t seen a lot of in-house lawyers desperate, looking for jobs,” said Sean Burke, founding partner at legal recruiting firm Whistler Partners. However, he added, there’s been a marked increase in applications from law firm lawyers looking to go in-house, leading him to suspect that layoffs have mostly affected the other side.
