Kirkland & Ellis associate Braeden Anderson has been busy. In addition to putting in his hours at the world’s highest-grossing law firm for the past year-and-a-half, he’s been juggling a variety of extracurriculars, including publishing a book next week and opening additional locations of his restaurants, Kook Burger and Black Turtle Coffee, in the Philadelphia area.

But now, as he prepares to leave for an in-house job as assistant general counsel in regulatory matters for trading platform Robinhood, Anderson is willing to share his frustrations with his time in Big Law. This spell also included three years at Sidley Austin before joining Kirkland’s government, regulatory and internal investigations practice group in October 2021, attached to the firm’s New York and Washington, D.C., offices.
