GCs Want to Be the Corporate Conscience but Say They Need Lots of Help

A recent survey that found general counsel see themselves as the conscience of the company underscored the broad scope of responsibilities legal chiefs now have but also the increasing complexity of their responsibilities.

General counsel and other in-house experts say serving as the conscience of the company is an overwhelming and ultimately impossible task unless a general counsel is surrounded by a C-suite and by business unit heads who are ultimately committed to more than increasing sales.
