Flight Attendant’s Attorneys Scoff at Southwest’s Rationales to Block ‘Religious Liberty’ Training, Say Airline ‘Tilting at Windmills’

Attorneys for a Southwest Airlines flight attendant say in a new court filing that a judge’s order mandating that three Southwest lawyers receive religious liberty training from a conservative Christian group is completely reasonable—given the group’s deep knowledge of religious-discrimination law and the airline’s flouting of that law.

The attorneys say Southwest’s attempt to cast the group, the Alliance Defending Freedom, as a “pariah” is unwarranted, saying it is a legal aid group that “happens to espouse religious views” and has extensive experience at all court levels, including the Supreme Court.
