Ann Cook, the U.S. general counsel of Ernst & Young, is stepping down in the wake of the firm’s being accused of mishandling an employee-cheating scandal and paying $100 million to settle a Securities and Exchange Commission’s inquiry into the matter.
Cook, who joined Ernst & Young as deputy general counsel for litigation and regulatory matters in 2013 and became vice chair and general counsel in 2021, will depart Aug. 1.
