Australia’s corporate regulator has launched the country’s first greenwashing court action against global investment giant Mercer, alleging its sustainable investment fund did not live up to the promises made to investors.
The Federal Court proceedings come after the Australian Securities & Investments Commission warned last year that it was switching from educating executives and directors about greenwashing to enforcement against companies violating the law.
