“I haven’t done a normal buyout in years,” sighed one senior private equity lawyer over lunch in London recently.
What she meant was the process of a private equity firm just acquiring a company and then later selling it on for a profit is becoming rather rare. Which sounds strange given buyouts comprise such a large proportion of M&A these days.
