With a mix of adaptable practices that shifted gears when the economy stalled, Seyfarth Shaw grew revenue roughly 9% last year, while the firm’s growth of the equity tier and other investments contributed to a 1% drop in profits per equity partner.
The Chicago-headquartered firm, ranked No. 62 in the most recent Am Law 200, grew its equity tier almost 7%, up to around 214, while growing total head count by about 4.3%, up to 931 lawyers, expanding in cities such as Seattle and New York. Seyfarth said that growth was directly tied to its “effectively flat” profit growth.
