Last July, Cuatrecasas’s managing partner Jorge Badía unexpectedly died in a cycling accident in Barcelona. In the wake of the tragedy, temporary managing partner Rafael Fontana approached corporate and M&A partner Javier Fontcuberta about taking the role. By Christmas, Fontcuberta was named Badía’s successor.
