A divided Federal Trade Commission has denied a request by Kroger and Albertsons to delay the agency’s administrative hearing regarding the grocery giants’ proposed merger.

The FTC’s party-line 3-2 vote last Wednesday keeps the agency on schedule to consider evidence regarding the corporate combination’s affect on competition, consumers and the labor force.
