For almost three years, China closed its doors to the world. For much of that time, the country stubbornly stuck to its zero-COVID policy, imposing draconian measures on its people, locking down some of its most prized cities, and turning away foreign investors and businesses.

International law firms that had long advised on major cross-border deals involving Chinese businesses suffered drastic consequences.
