The Ohio Supreme Court recently overturned a felony conviction for aggravated vehicular assault after concluding the state misinterpreted the law, clarifying that a Polaris off-road vehicle is a “utility vehicle,” not a “motor vehicle” under Ohio criminal law.

The high court unanimously overturned Joshua Fork’s felony conviction after he crashed the Polaris vehicle he was driving, allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The crash injured his passengers in the process, leading to the criminal charges.
