The Colorado Supreme Court this week publicly censured and sanctioned a now-retired county judge for allegedly abusing his position after he represented his brother-in-law during an investigation into a domestic violence dispute.

The high court concluded in a March 4 opinion that now-retired Adams County District Court Judge Robert Kiesnowski abused his judicial position for the sake of furthering his brother-in-law’s interests both undermined his judicial office and the public’s confidence in the judiciary.
