On Tuesday, Australian legal tech startup Atticus, which offers a verification software that allows lawyers to fact-check documents such as annual reports, IPO prospectuses and more, announced that it received a $10.84 million minority investment from Skip Capital and Blackbird Ventures.

The investment is the first time the Melbourne- and London-based startup agreed to outside funding, having relied on its own profitability and organic growth since its 2017 launch to expand to 30 staff members and operations in both Australia and the U.K.
