A newly published opinion of the Appellate Division clarifies when an answer can be amended to assert a marital counterclaim and reminds counsel—and judges—of the time frame for motions for reconsideration when a judgment is interlocutory.

In Sadeeshkumar v. Sadeeshkumar, the trial judge had denied the defendant’s motion to assert a counterclaim for divorce for irreconcilable differences and denied defendant’s motion for reconsideration as untimely.
