“You could fashion an argument that the restrictions on speech generally are really geared toward protecting the trial or any interference with the trial, but the jurors’ safety issue is one that would continue past them returning a verdict,” opined one observer. Trump’s defense team did not seek clarification of the orders following his conviction on Thursday.

Trump, 77, has complained repeatedly about the order and clarified order limiting his extrajudicial speech, and was held in contempt 10 times for violations of those orders and fined.
